Tooth Decay: Are Your Kids at Risk?

Posted .

You probably know that there are a number of things you should do if you’re interested in keeping your child’s teeth healthy and strong. You may know also know that brushing and flossing your little one’s teeth is important. The truth is, if you don’t care for their teeth well, your child could face a number of problems, including tooth decay.

One thing you’ll need to do is help your child brush when they’re about six months old, after their first tooth comes in. You should also help your child floss when their teeth start touching. Children who brush and floss consistently tend to have fewer cavities and healthier teeth overall.

Some children are more prone to tooth decay than others. For example, children who eat prepackaged snacks, dinners to go, and processed foods loaded with carbohydrates and sugars tend to be more vulnerable to cavities than other children. If you worry about your child’s teeth, you could consider switching from processed foods to whole foods and schedule an appointment with our dentist, Dr Nidal Obeid.
